Today was a great day at the museum! Most of my morning was spent fertilizing the plants which I finished much quicker than expected. I love being able to help out in these ways at the butterfly center it's so great having that feeling of giving back, even though it is technically my job to do these things. When I was younger I use to visit the center on a monthly sometimes even daily basis and it just feels so good and rewarding to now be able to say, "Hey I planted that!" or "Wow, I fertilized this whole place!"
The rest of my morning was spent up in the greenhouse moving plants around. In this area, there is a designated space for where the butterflies are raised. In cages, we have around 4 plants with about 200 caterpillars living on them. Weekly these plants get swapped out, meaning we have to pull them off of the old plants that at this point they have devoured. We are constantly switching out these plants to make sure the future butterflies get enough nutrients. Once the plants get removed we take them to another section of the house to be regrown.
Overall today was a great day!
