2.19.19

This month is the start to me sticking with a true routine at the HMNS. I begin my morning by signing in and then hop right into my daily tasks. First, I do whats called butterfly rescue. This means I go behind the walls of the center into our storage area. The butterflies tend to fly over in search of food. I gather them all up and then carry them back out to where they should be and place them each by a feeder. Next, I do a bit of clean up consisting of gathering the ones that have passed on -- sadly they live such a short life. Finally once these are completed I go upstairs to the greenhouses and make sugar water to refill their feeders. While I was upstairs this morning I found a few cocoons casually hanging from one of the tables the plants are on. It was so neat to see because I had only seen the ones that had been raised, never the natural process. Overall still loving this internship and I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested!
